About Me
I’m currently based in NYC. I’m still trying to figure out what kind of engineering I am passionate the most about, but in the meantime I am trying to connect all the puzzle pieces together. I live life for its “aha” moments. When things finally click!
I was born in Esfahan, Iran, and moved to Dallas, TX when I was 13. There were a lot of changes like having to learn English, but one thing that kept me sane over the years was my passion for cooking. I dream to one day open up my own restaurant focusing on mediterranean dishes cooked on a wood fired grill.
Where I’ve Worked
- Jane StreetAug 2025 – present
Trading Desk Engineer
- Method Financial (YCS19)May – August 2025
Software Engineer Intern
I Built the entire message-level encryption layer and improved our Cloudflare-Worker edge idempotency system. I Had the privilege of working with Jose, Marco, and Mustafa — a crash-course in juggling a million priorities at once. They were 3 amazing founders/engineers who were very efficient, consistent, and hardwroking.
Working alongside them and everyone else at Method was one of the leanest learning experiences I’ve had. I learned to spot the most important task, gain enough background to understand it, learn what’s necessary to complete it, and repeat the process. - SnowflakeAug – Dec 2024
Software Engineer Intern — Growth Platforms
The Growth team focuses on driving user acquisition and improving engagement through A/B experiments.
I designed and built an ML infrastructure platform as code that automated model training, inference, and evaluation for selecting users in experiments.
The system abstracted storage, scheduling, real-time updates, and experiment-specific evaluation.
To support cross-functional collaboration, I also developed a lightweight observability layer that enabled non-engineers—such as marketing, finance, and product teams—to independently monitor model performance. - Jane StreetMay – Aug 2024
Trading Desk Engineer Intern — Research & Options
While interning at Jane Street, I worked with 3 different Trading Desks: Fundamental Research: I built a returns retrieval CLI tool to automate cross-equity correlation analysis and accelerate unusual-return discovery from hours to seconds. Options: The Options desk has a suite of OCaml-based tools supporting trading operations and strategy research. However, researchers and engineers needed access to the same functionality in Python to leverage data science libraries like Pandas and NumPy. I extended these tools by exposing type-safe OCaml interfaces to Python using a sidecar pattern. Because OCaml enforces strict type safety, any mismatched or invalid input from Python results in immediate and descriptive errors before execution begins. This ensured reliability while enabling seamless integration with Pandas DataFrames and other custom Python tooling. Global Capital Markets: I spent a brief period on this trading desk, where I developed robust custom parsers for complex `.xlsx` and `.csv` files containing margin data from our prime brokers. These parsers were designed to be resilient to formatting changes and automatically extracted margin requirements into our trading databases for downstream use.
- DTCCMay – Aug 2023
Software Engineer Intern
I worked on the Research and Development team at DTCC. Throughout the summer I spent my time building an Ethereum TestNet Faucet to explore the applications of blockchain to transactions and settlement. Throughout this project I learned a lot about blockchain, cryptography, and worked with great minds!
- DTCCMay 2022 – May 2023
Data Engineer Intern
I mainly worked on creating new validation scripts for server connfigurations to ensure synchronization of data across various sources.
Some Projects
- ByteBite — Generate macro-friendly recipes and order the ingredients via Instacart.
- AtomicRing — Ultra-fast SPMC and SPSC queues for C++ using cache-local blocks and per-block atomics.
- Docs2Prompt — Fetch any open-source repo's docs and pack them into a single, LLM-ready prompt file.
- Litcoach — Chrome extension that coaches you through LeetCode and syncs solutions to GitHub.
Coffees I Like
- Nitro Cold Brew (from Startbucks, IDK why some hate it)
- Cortado
- Black Coffee
- Cinnamon Latte
College
I graduated from UT Dallas with a B.S. in Computer Science. UTD might not be the most recognized school but it's full of brilliant people. Professors Dr. Chitturi and Dr. Vincent Ng sparked my passion for the field.
Research
- Pronoun Resolution in MemesJan 2023 - Present
Human Language and Technology Lab — Dr. Vincent Ng
Built a full pipeline to annotate 5K+ memes with pronoun references, background info, and interpretations. Engineered difficulty scoring and choice generation for model evaluation. Self-hosted LLMs (e.g., Qwen) for annotation and inference, managing multi-agent context workflows. Designed infrastructure to test model performance across diverse meme and prompt configurations.
- Popularity Prediction on Social MediaJan 2023 - Present
Data Communication and Data Management Lab — Dr. Ding Du
Engineered an edge-attentive GAT model that achieved 85% accuracy in popularity prediction, surpassing SOTA models. Created a PyTorch Dataset from COVID-era Twitter data by processing 130K+ files and constructing node features.
Clubs & Organizations
- Consult Your Community (CYC)2023 - 2025
Founder and President
I founded the UTD chapter of CYC to create a place where students can work on projects that benefit their community. I see it as a two-way street: businesses give students real problems to solve, allowing them to practice skills and gain leadership experience, while businesses get assistance from smart, hardworking students; completely free of charge.
- Dallas Persian Association (DPA)2023 - 2025
Founder, VP, President
My best friends and I noticed a lack of community for Iranian-Americans raised in the US. So, we created an organization tailored to this mixed culture that brings Iranian-American students in DFW together through kabab nights (my favorite), movie nights, and other fun events. It's a space for cultural activities but welcomes everyone, no matter how familiar they are with Persian culture.
